MOSCOW SAYS U.S. AVOIDING DEBATE ON ARMS RACE IN SPACE.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Yakovenko said in a
statement reported by Interfax on 30 January that the United
States is seeking to obstruct a Disarmament Conference
discussion on how best to prevent an arms race in space. The
statement said that only the U.S. delegation is "blocking
with immutable persistence [the] negotiations" on this topic.
