Washington File, 15 September 2000 -- The U.S. Representative to the
Conference on Disarmament (CD) in Geneva says that the insistence by some
CD members that negotiations on a new Outer Space Treaty begin immediately
is both "unwise and unrealistic."
- Press Conference By Russian Federation President, UN Press Briefing, 08 September 2000 -- The Russian Federation had made proposals to make international relations more secure, just and democratic. It had proposed, for example, an international conference on the prevention of the militarization of outer space. The meeting would be held early next year and would coincide with the anniversary of the first flight of a man into space.

- Prevention of An Arms Race in Outer Space Presentation by Mr. Wang Xiaoyu, at the WILPF Seminar - March 10, 1999 -- Some country insists that at present there is no arms race in outer space and therefore there is no need to discuss the issue of PAROS in any forum, including the Conference on Disarmament (CD). Chinese Ambassador Li Change urged the United Nations' arms control body to launch global negotiations to stop outer space from being turned into a battlefield.
