The "ultimate Navy cruise missile," the Triton, was to have a 12,000 nm range, fly at Mach 3.5 at 80,000 feet, be guided by radar map-matching, and deliver a 1,500-pound warhead within 600 yards of its aiming point. It entered full-scale development in 1955, but never got into production.
