RSS-40 Kuryer
On 6 October 1991 the USSR rejected development of a new small, mobile ICBM undertaken by the Moscow Institute of Heat Engineering (MIT) State Enterprise. The Kuryer was in no way inferior to its American analog, the small, mobile Midgetman missile complex. This system could have taken the place of
Topol-M. The complex was fully prepared for flight tests, but the political leadership yielded to the United States at that time and did not permit them to be conducted. Nevertheless, the basic components of the complex were tested piecemeal. This missile was being developed to include new materials, fuel, a control system and other new design and technological solutions.
