Quetta
On 06 April 1998 Pakistan conducted the first flight test of the Hatf-V (Ghauri) surface-to-surface missile. The missile was reportedly launched from Malute, near the city of Jhelum in north-eastern Pakistan and impacted the target near the southwestern city of Quetta. It is possible that the impact area was within the boundries of the PAF Samungli Pakistani Air Force base to the immediate west of the city of Quetta.
Quetta, the provincial capital of Baluchistan, is situated at an elevation of 1700 meters (5,500 ft) and is one of the best known hill resorts in Pakistan with delightful summer weather [and severe winters].
