Shahriyar
35°39'35"N 51°03'34"E

According to reports published in Russia, apparently based on information developed by the Russian Federal Security Service, facilities at "Shakhriyar" [aka Shahriyar and Ali Shah Avaz], located 50 km west of Tehran, are the planned location for a missile production facility to be constructed with Chinese assistance. The current status of this project remains uncertain, in the absence of subsequent confirming reports.

As of 11 April 2000 Russian 2-meter resolution KVR-1000 imagery coverage was not available via the SPIN-2 service on TerraServer. There were at least fourarchived Space Imaging IKONOS 1-meter images of this area available on the CARTERRA™ Archive. In the absence of more information concerning whether in fact a facility has been constructed, it would be difficult to usefully exploit this imagery.
