[FBIS Transcribed Text] Moscow April 4 TASS -- "The ratification
of the Treaty on the Limitation and Reduction of Strategic Offensive Weapons
(START-2) and the perpetuation of the ABM agreement are among the priorities
of the Russo-American political dialogue," Nikita Matkovskiy, representative
of the Russian Foreign Ministry's information and press directorate, said
here today.
"The emergence of strike space weapons, the development of which
is urged today by some, putting it mildly, irresponsible people in the
United States, would endanger the process of nuclear disarmament," the
diplomat said. Hence, the Russian Foreign Ministry deems it necessary
to secure the urgent ratification of the START-2 treaty and the perpetuation
of the ABM agreement.
