WEST AFRICAN STATES ADOPT CODE OF CONDUCT ON LIGHT WEAPONS, LAUNCH REGIONAL ARMS REGISTER AND DATABASE Press Release AFR/199 DC/2675 -- 27 December 1999 -- Code of Conduct to backstop the implementation of the Moratorium on the Importation, Exportation and Manufacture of Light Weapons, adopted in Abuja, Nigeria on 31 October 1998. The Moratorium entered into force on 1 November 1998 for a renewable period of three years.
SIGNATORIES URGED TO TAKE CONCRETE STEPS TO ADVANCE IMPLEMENTATION OF WEST AFRICA LIGHT WEAPONS MORATORIUM Press Release DC/2673 -- 2 December 1999 -- The Advisory Group of the Programme for Coordination and Assistance for Security and Development (PCASED), the mechanism charged with assisting in the implementation of the Moratorium on the Importation, Exportation and Manufacture of Light Weapons in West Africa, has urged heads of State and government of the 16 West African countries signatories to the Moratorium to take concrete steps to advance its implementation.
